Do you know of anyone currently or planning on attending NIU and plays rugby? We are offering for the first time scholarships.
Minimum requirements: Minimum GPA (Cumulative) 2.0 out of 4.0 scale
– Each scholarship will have designated applicant parameters. Overall, applicants must be Freshmen through Junior year, eligible player according to the USA Rugby Collegiate Eligibility Rules.
– Currently registered with USA Rugby.
– For each scholarship, one will be awarded to men’s team and one will be awarded to women’s team. Currently, $500 per scholarship.
– Up-to-date dues paid member of either team.
– Forms submitted in hard copy format and received by designated deadline.
– Note: Please keep a copy for your reference, as application packets will not be returned.

| Daniel Parmenter Incoming Freshman Scholarship | Any incoming Freshman going to the university. That has had 1 more more years of rugby experience at the high school level. |
| Dr. Robert McFadden Longevity Scholarship | 2 to 3 years of continuous participation with the club |
| Thaddeus Hupp Executive Scholarship | Any member that has shown commitment on and off the field. Applicant must have 1 full year of commitment to the executive board, as either President, Vice-President, Match Secretary, or Treasurer. |
| Egel Family Scholarship | Any NIU rugby player or recruit, with a minimum one year commitment to the sport, at the high school and/or college level. Preference may be given to a graduate of Chicago Public Schools, however, that is not required. |
Please include the following in your award submission:
- Proof of current registration with USA Rugby.
- Short Essay – Please include both a, b, and c:
- Include which scholarship you are intending on applying for and how it could impact you.
- Tell us a little about yourself and your athletic achievements.
- Your person, rugby-related goals at the university and beyond.

Review Process: All complete applications will be reviewed and candidates are evaluated based on their ability to meet the minimum requirements, the short essay, and coach recommendation letter.

Awarding of Scholarship: The awardees will be announced before the Fall season begins. Presentation of the scholarship will be at the 1st home match of the season. Awardees can only be awarded one scholarship per year.
