Rugby Illinois Girls Tornadoes Go Undefeated

The Tornadoes won the Girls HS Division at The Ruck at Rock Hill Tournament in Rock Hill, SC this weekend! The team has come together solidly over their June tournaments and have showcased the talent of young female athletes. On June 24, the Girls High School Tornadoes won significantly with scores of, Illinois 32 v Tennessee 12 and Illinois 19 v Charlotte 0.

On their second day of games the team continued their winning streak with a win over Virginia and a final score of 14-7 and moving on to the Championship Match – Illinois 15 Tennessee 10.

In addition, the girls visited Queens University in Charlotte, NC which is starting a varsity rugby program this year. They toured the campus and the athletic facilities and we held one of our practices there. The Queens coach, Katie Wurst, gave them a talk on mentally preparing for matches.
